Project Description
Visit and Tasting at an Oil Mill in Puglia
Near Martina Franca, a city known for its splendid Baroque architecture, you will take part in the visit of an ancient Apulian oil mill, led by Outreach’s private bilingual guide. A fascinating and instructive journey that goes through all the phases of the process and illustrates the careful steps to discover the traditional procedures, with granite millstones, and the more modern ones, of pressing and extracting oil from the many varieties of Apulian olives.
You will be able to see the machinery through which unique Puglia olives are bottled, a fundamental procedure for the oil to keep its organoleptic and nutritional properties intact and qualitatively high over time.
By the end of the guided tour of the Apulian oil mill, seated comfortably around a table, you can taste the various types of oil, such as Amabile, Vivace, Mosto and Florido, thus learning to recognize their main characteristics. To conclude the tasting this experience will offer you the possibility to taste the characteristic friselle and the exquisite Apulian focaccia, two unparalleled characteristic dishes of Puglia.
