Project Description

Lecce, Pearl of Salento

Puglia holds an extraordinary casket of cultural treasures, starting with the pearl of Salento: the city of Lecce. The latter is among the most beautiful cities of art in southern Italy and in recent years it has become an important stop for international tourism.

An accessible private van will offer roundtrip transportation from your hotel located in Puglia or from the main Puglia stations, airports or ports to Lecce. Here you can spend a day among the wonders of this city of art, full of splendid buildings and baroque churches available for you to discover along with our bilingual guide, expert in art history.

Known as “the Florence of the South”, it will amaze and fascinate you in every precious and intimate corner, from the center to the less more peripheral areas. Its ancient origins and the archaeological remains of Roman domination are intertwined with the richness and exuberance of the typically seventeenth-century Baroque of churches and palaces. Lecce’s streets of the city center make for a real open-air museum.

The guide will lead you through an accessible route designed ad hoc for you. The tour starts in the splendid Piazza del Duomo, which houses the Cathedral of Maria SS. Assunta, and continues on a path full of art and beauty to discover the “Lecce Baroque style”, different from any other type of architecture.

Lunch will take place in a traditional and elegant restaurant where you can taste the flavors of Salento home cooking, unique for dishes and recipes throughout southern Italy.
