Asti, Palazzo Alfieri and Palazzo Mazzetti
The city of Asti rises between the hills of the Langhe and Monferrato and is known all over the world for its fine wines such as Barbera, Brachetto and sparkling wines such as Moscato d’Asti DOCG.
An accessible private van will offer roundtrip transportation from your hotel located in Turin or from the main stations/airports to the center of Asti. In Asti you will meet a bilingual guide, expert in art history, who will take you through an accessible route designed specifically to make you enjoy the beauty of this city which still shows the evidence of an ancient and glorious past.
One of the stops of the day is a visit to Palazzo Mazzetti, which preserves sumptuous Baroque interiors and unique objects. Today it is the seat of the Civic Art Gallery where you can admire seventeenth-century paintings and a rich collection of Italian artists of the last two centuries.
You will also visit Palazzo Alfieri, former residence of Vittorio Alfieri, one of the greatest Italian poets and playwrights. In these places, you will be able to admire objects and testimonies of his entire period of poetic activity.
The day will end with a visit to the Crypt of Sant’Anastasio and its small museum, one of the most characteristic sites in Asti. In the crypt, you will have the opportunity to see a shrewd section of various stone finds, discovered through excavations and researches in different parts of the city. You will also be able to see the remains of the Romanesque church and admire its imposing walls.
Lunch will be held at a restaurant in the heart of the city, where the world-class wines from the Asti area you will find traditional Piedmontese dishes, such as “bagna cauda”, vegetables from the Tanaro Valley and agnolotti stuffed with meat.
